Ingredients and Storage
100% Pure Indigo (Indigofera tinctoria) Leaf – a natural hair dye used for deep black and brown tones without chemicals.
Store Indigo Powder in a tightly closed container to avoid exposure to moisture. Keep it in a cool, dry place, away from direct heat or sunlight. Avoid storing it in damp areas to prevent it from clumping.

दोषत्रयहरा नित्यं, नीलिनि त्वं नमोऽस्तु ते॥
From Bhavaprakasha Nighantu, Madhyamakhanda, Chapter 11, Verse 22:
Natural Black Hair Dye (Henna + Indigo Method)
Ingredients:
Henna Powder (pre-applied) + Indigo Powder + Warm Water
How to Use:
- First apply Henna paste and leave for 2–3 hours. Rinse and let dry.
- Next day, mix Indigo Powder with warm water to make a paste (no metal bowl).
- Apply indigo paste to hair evenly.
- Leave for 1–2 hours and rinse with water (no shampoo for 24 hours).
Frequency: Once every 3–4 weeks
Grey Hair Coverage
Ingredients:
Indigo Powder + Amla Powder + Henna Powder + Water
How to Use:
- Mix 2 parts Henna + 1 part Amla. Soak overnight.
- Apply to hair, leave 2–3 hrs, rinse and dry.
- Mix Indigo Powder with warm water, apply next day.
- Leave for 1–2 hours, rinse without shampoo.
Frequency: Every 3–5 weeks
Deep Hair Conditioning & Shine (without coloring)
Ingredients:
Indigo Powder + Aloe Vera Powder + Yogurt
How to Use:
- Mix 1 tbsp Indigo Powder with 1 tsp Aloe Vera Powder and 1 tbsp yogurt.
- Apply to clean hair.
- Leave for 20–30 mins and rinse off.
Frequency: Every 2 weeks
Precautions
Patch Test: We recommend doing a patch test before using Indigo, especially if you’re new to it. Apply a small amount to the paste to the inside of your wrist or elbow and wait for 24 hours to ensure it’s a good match for your skin.
Wear Gloves: While Indigo is safe for use, it may stain skin temporarily. For ease of application, wearing gloves is recommended.
Sensitive Skin: If you have very sensitive skin, it’s best to apply Indigo cautiously and avoid direct contact for long periods. Rinse it off gently if any irritation occurs.
